The Philosopher
|
|
|
In his candlelit chamber…
The philosopher works…
Day and night…
Without a rest.
It is great research…
But never credited…
Nothing has worked…
Nobody has paid attention…
But this time they will.
And the philosopher tires…
But he keeps on…
He keeps on through the night.
And on the morrow…
The philosopher wakes…
And studies his books.
A scroll and a stick…
That will tell him…
A ruler made by Merlin…
Will give him success.
And so his work is credited…
Like the philosopher dreamed it would be…
And, his work done, he fell into the
Endless Slumber…
Which he well deserves. |

Love
|
|
|
|
I love my Mommy…
She loves me…
When she’s sick, I make her tea.
When she’s sad, I cheer her up,
When we’re hungry, we sup.
I love my Daddy…
He loves me…
When he’s tired, I leave him to read,
When he is weary, I leave him to rest.
When he is playful, his jokes are the best!
I love my Sister,
She sometimes loves me,
When she is joyful, I let her ride on me,
When she is upset, I give her hugs,
When she is curious, I show her bugs. |

The Princess
|
|
|
|
In the castle awaits a knight….
Perhaps he’s come for me!
The princess awaits….
On her fine steed she rides,
A shining ghost in the midnight.
Oh how she rides!....and they’re off…
Against her father’s will!
The knight is poor, the princess rich…
And the knight is not nobly born!
And they pass through the streets,
Where nobody can disturb them,
And nobody can tell them to leave!
The King is soundly in bed,
The Queen is almost dead,
The princes are playing,
The horses are a-neighing,
And light begins to shine!
The knight says farewell,
To the sad tears of the princess,
For this is her wedding day!
Her betrothed stands
a-waiting, impatiently
Gazing at the sky.
And many years after,
The knight comes again….
A spirit…
Crying for his love.

If I Drove An Ice Cream Truck
|
|
|
Oh, if I drove an Ice Cream Truck
Like Willy Spoppy Hillhimer Tuck
I would have pennies, and nickels, and shiny dimes too
With tons of employees --- all with the flu!
And then I would catch it
Not in the air, silly you!
But I would catch the flu
And sniffles and sneezes
If (which I don’t) I drove an ice cream truck
Like Willy Spoppy Hillhimer Tuck. |

Fairies
|
|
|
One dark night…
In the green of the wood…
Comes young Hazel…
Clad in gold…
Hair shining like pearls…
Gliding across the water.
The fairies surround her…
Their Queen, their ruler…
Hazel stands serenely…
And is gone with the wind.
The fairies go after her…
The wind brings them along…
And they fly and fly…
And the sky becomes clear.
They sprinkle their blessings
On children’s windows…
And Hazel rings her bell…
And the sun rises.
And the fairies disappear…
To come back another year. |

If I were thirty-nine
|
|
|
If I were thirty-nine
I would get what’s mine
Like Jury Duty and jail time,
If I were thirty-nine.
If I were thirty-nine,
I would run a school,
And tell the teachers what to teach
While I dived into a pool,
If I were thirty-nine.
If I were thirty-nine,
I would have five children,
I wouldn’t care ‘bout how many eggs I need to scramble,
‘Cause I’d be thirty-nine. |
