Pedagogy
I see teaching as a collaborative process between teacher and student. I seek to understand students' motivations for studying the topic at hand and connect concepts we discuss to clear applications aligned with their interests; facilitate a learning environment that is caring, rigorous, and generative; and further develop each pupil's capacity for reading, writing, and thinking. Previous students have shared that I made a difference for them as an instructor through active listening and synthesis of group discussion, engaging questions, detailed lesson plans and activities, and being empathetic and supportive. I have learned from each class, and continue to refine my pedagogy in relation to every student.
